Great front end. Good to lightly sip. The back end falls off a cliff in taste for me. It's got a strong acidity in the back pallet if you take too much in at once. But again good flavors and overall a good Wedensday night wine.

This was an okay malbec. It is still awfully young and the tannins come through pretty strongly, but the flavor is nice with a hint of spice and the finish is moderate.

Recently started getting into Malbec. I hear if it's Bodega, it's better. However, I purchased the Dona Paula since the package store down the road, doesn't have a great selection! To my surprise, I LOVED IT! The best part is, you have one glass and it feels like two! Literally! This is a great buy at a good price. I usually feel the more pricey, the better. But the taste is exceptional. I like the hint of chocolate and yes, where it is young, definitely a good all around purchase!

Offers a good, juicy beam of raspberry and black cherry fruit, with spice and vanilla hints on the finish. Drink now.

Open and inviting, with blueberry pudding, blackberry fruit and sweet vanilla caressing the finish. Jammy. Comes straight at you, but very tasty. Drink now through 2003.

Brilliant purply-violet color with fresh blackberry and violets on the nose. Syrup-slow legs on the glass, this Malbec enters the palate lush and ripe, with blueberry compote and toasted oak flavors.

All hail the mighty Malbec! This grape has turned in to a powerhouse in Argentina, producing lusty wines with both ample fruit and earthiness. A true crowd pleaser!

Juicy, with lots of cherry and red plum fruit layered with a red licorice note. Has a sweet, round finish. Drink now through 2008.

Tangy and focused, with a nice mineral edge to the black currant and raspberry fruit. Racy finish let licorice and graphite notes linger. Drink now.

Winemaker's Notes:

Finca El Alto is the largest single vineyard malbec planted in Luján de Cuyo region with 197 hectares (487 acres) planted between 1969 and .Most of the production is coming from adult vineyards trellised in double spur pruned cordon at medium to high vines density (1852 to 3636 vines per hectare).Clay soils perform good structure in the wines and this is the aim of this Estate malbec: richness, elegance, balance and bright fresh fruits aromas, all of them, capable to express the Upper Mendoza rivers sense of place. At Doña Paula the vineyards and wines have always been managed using Sustainable Agriculture practices.Carefully and gentle desteming with partial berries crushing with the purpose to provide fresh berry aromas.Cool pre-fermentation maceration for 2 weeks to extract primary aromas, flavours and intense colour under non-alcoholic phase.First part of the fermentation takes place under wild yeast culture and is finished inoculating selected yeast.Fermented at 25°C, keeping the freshness the wine is after racked to new, second and third use French barrels (33% of each one) where the wine is aged during 8 months before being bottled.
