Lopez de Heredia Vina Cubillo Crianza 2005
Intense red color. Very good concentration on the nose, reminding aromas of dark fruits like blackberries and cassis. Juicy and fruity on the palate, with hints of coffee and leather given by the oak. Full bodied, silky tannins and long finish. Great combined with meats and strong cheeses.

Editorial Reviews for Lopez de Heredia Vina Cubillo Crianza
This is quite fruity and intensely aromatic, with a fair amount of oak. Sweet vanilla, subdued stemminess, red cherry and currant fruit with a peppery top note fill the glass. This is slightly volatile on the nose, but only to the point of boosting the aromatics. Smooth on entry, this shows some rather extracted, dry tannins, but there’s fine buffering material in the form of rich, slightly chewy dark fruit that’s a bit gamy. Mostly cherry toned with some black raspberry notes and a bit of spice, the fruit rises on the mid-palate and becomes more perfumed and expressive on the back end. The moderately long finish shows a fine interplay of wood, spice, sweetness and mouthwatering fruit. The fruit wins out on the finale. 91pts
This 2005 Airen has a clear, bright, yellow-straw color. There are flowery aromas on the nose, with intense pineapple and green apple notes. The palate is well structured, with body and class balancing the wine's acidity and freshness, ending with a long, persistent and sweet finish. This classic white wine is from Aresan's own 50 year old vineyards in Spain. Serve chilled on its own, or as a great accompaniment to any kind of fish, pate, and smoked salmon or cod. So smooth that I kept taking sips and I forgot that I was going to review this - so of course I had to pour more. Ripe red fruit and great, balanced tannins.
Musty nose with a nuttiness like amaretto, and hints of blueberries and chili peppers. Very well rounded mouth bursting with cherry fruit, and a fairly tart finish. Nice bottle to enjoy on its own.
Extremely ripe fruit on the nose with hints of red pepper spice. Very soft on entry, medium palette and a delightfully smooth finish. Love this!
Pleasant Tempranillo, but nothing too special. Good backup table wine, if you get it on sale.
Disappointing, overly simple wine. Taste like it was made from a kit. I guess this is the Tempranilla grape, but you wouldn't know it from the taste. Good price point, but spend a little more on a better wine.

The Vivanco Reserva 2005 is pretty much everything a Rioja fan would expect and a bit more: lots of fun, oaky elements in the nose (vanilla and marshmallow), long-lasting black cherry notes, as well as dried herbs, sweet currants, mushrooms, and even limestone. Drink now or in the next several years.
