Longoria Pinot Noir Fe Ciega Vineyard Or More 2006

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

This is slightly candied on the nose but there’s a lot going on here with incipient notes of dried herbs adding depth and lovely hints of wood spice and underbrush helping to frame the dark fruit. There’s also a top note of something faintly flinty/gunpowdery. This has great presence in the mouth, dry and slightly austere with fine tannin and excellent acid balance. The mid-palate is packed with black cherry fruit framed with wood tones and a nice earthy base. There’s a light minty top note and a fine, powdery mineral tone that cuts the mid-palate and extends right through the fairly long finish. This is retrained but rich with really complexity that builds adding a touch of bitter almond and a nice sour plum accent note. The nose becomes a bit too marked by oak, which may further integrate with time, but the mouthfeel is right in my wheelhouse. 92pts
