Longboard Vineyards Merlot Russian River Valley Dakine Vineyard 2007
DaKine (pronounced Dah-kine) comes from the Pidgin Hawaiian language and is often used to describe a great event. We named this wine DaKine because we wanted to showcase the best that this variety can produce in our region. This Merlot is lush with Black Currant and Blueberry aromas that lead to a generous mid-palate of full and sweet tannins, mocha, liquorice and dark chocolate flavors. The finish is long and slightly spicy, drink it now or age it for the next 7 years. A consistent award winner!
Try balance, harmony and nature for starters. Surfing is part sport, part meditation and all working within, rather than against, nature. Winemaking? Pretty similar approach. Both surfers and winemakers reach the summit of their respective crafts when they attain an understanding of, and a respect for, the environment in which they work (and play). Adapting to their surroundings, they achieve peak performance, on the waves and in the vineyards.

Hereandrsquo;s a pretty, polished Merlot that features a good structure and ripe, forward fruit flavors. With its rich tannins, it has lush flavors of black and red cherries, currants, licorice, peppery spices and sweet oak, finishing with a touch of raisins. Seems best now, but give it a good decant.
