Longboard Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Russian River Valley Rochioli Vineyard 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Dennis Delamontanya owns and farms this little vineyard just north of the town of Healdsburg. A lone Gravenstein apple tree still stands on the property. This Cabernet explodes with dark berry aromas and a spicy fennel note. An ensemble of blueberry, plum and lightly toasted oak flavors finish with a touch of vanilla and cassis. This wine reminds us why we loved Cabernet to begin with.

Longboard Vineyards:
Try balance, harmony and nature for starters. Surfing is part sport, part meditation and all working within, rather than against, nature. Winemaking? Pretty similar approach. Both surfers and winemakers reach the summit of their respective crafts when they attain an understanding of, and a respect for, the environment in which they work (and play). Adapting to their surroundings, they achieve peak performance, on the waves and in the vineyards.
