At release, this Cabernet bursts with dark berry aromas and a spicy fennel note, slight earthy and floral notes are there too, they become more prominent after some time in the glass. The body is lush with dark fruit flavors and a core of "sweet" tannins, a term denoting weight and velvety sensation (not sugar). This little hillside vineyard was planted by the Rochioli family in the 1960s. The vines are planted to St. George roostock, producing tiny berries full of flavor. At release, the wine displayed a lovely aroma of blueberries and violets layered with light hazelnut and vanilla. The wine finishes with a long black currant and spicy note. The acidity in the wine is just enough to balance the sweet tannins, ensuring it will age gracefully for many years.
