Supple, ripely flavored, and well balanced, this is a benchmarkRedwood Valley Chardonnay. Full bodied, veryfruity in flavor (apple, peach, lime), with overtones ofvanilla and toast. Long, full finish. Delicious.The idea behind this Chardonnay is to have it be expressiveof the grape, yet complex and rich enough to pairwith some of the most decadent poultry and seafooddishes - or virtually any food because of its balance andacidity. We've used a total of 26% new French Oak forthe barrel portion of the blend and stainless for the rest.Using both tank and barrel fermentation allows for addedcomplexity from the barrel (aging in barrels sur lies withsome battonage adds a light creaminess and richness tothe mouthfeel as well as subtle flavor complexities) andvaretal fruit expression from the tank. The result is aChardonnay rich in flavors of green apple, lime and pineapple.The 2006 Redwood Valley Chardonnay is 100%estate grown from vines planted in the early 1970s. Drinknow through 2010.
