Lola Kay 2010
A sophisticated, classically structured, and food-friendly styled wine made by the new generation of Napa Valley winemakers. As the brother and sister team of the well acclaimed Napa winery Rubissow. Peter and Ariel Rubissow believe in sustainable, organic farming, and minimal use of oak to compliment rich and elegant fruit. Lola Kay is named after their grandmothers Lola and Kay, inspired by their independence, beauty, and authenticity. The label is from an original ink drawing illustrated by noted English artist Christopher Gilvan-Cartwright. The proprietary red wine is composed of small lot Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The blend changes with each year to adjust for vintage variation. 2010 Blend: 40.2% Cabernet Franc, 37.9%Cabernet Sauvignon, 14.6% Syrah, and 7.3% Merlot. Unfined and Unfiltered.
Food Pairings for Lola Kay
The wine shows rich depth, pronounced aroma, and a long finish. The wine opens with aromas of blackfruit, peppers, mocha, and vanilla. The pronounced nose is followed by flavors of blackberry, cherry, vanilla, baking spice, earth, and cocoa. This youthful Napa shows firm tannins with balanced acidity. You will enjoy this deep purple colored wine with pork, arugula, and cheese or as Peter and Ariel suggest, a toast of the best bread in town, buttered and topped with a pinch of salt. 14.2% Alc. Content.
