Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Advocate Review The dense purple-colored 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain is the softest, most flamboyant of this trio. It possesses a plump, seductive perfume of black currants, cherry liqueur, raspberries, plums, and figs, great ripeness, sweet tannin, full-bodied, powerful flavors, a silky palate, and an alluring voluptuousness. Drink it over the next 12-15+ years.

Lokoya:
Lokoya is dedicated to producing powerful, complex wines that reflect the distinct character of the appellations in which they are grown. Each Cabernet Sauvignon is produced in limited amounts and expresses the appellation—specific terroir from vineyard blocks on Mount Veeder, Spring Mountain, Howell Mountain and Diamond Mountain.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Ruby-red. Superripe aromas of currant, blueberry, mocha, brown spices and violet. Lush, dense and sweet, with lovely floral lift to the flavors of dark raspberry, dark chocolate and mint. An edge of acidity and very fine tannins gives shape to the

Good medium ruby. An essence of cabernet on the nose, with blackberry, licorice and floral aromas complicated by an exotic suggestion of fruity tropical chocolate. Then large-scaled, fat and sweet in the mouth, with highly concentrated black

Wine Advocate ReviewThe 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is the most backward of this impressive trio. Its blueberry, creme de cassis, floral, and roasted coffee-scented bouquet is followed by a wine with huge fruit, structure, concentration, and richness as well as a tannic, powerful finish. Although stunningly rich, it is the least accessible at present. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020+.

Good full ruby. More brooding, medicinal aromas of cassis, black cherry and mint. Then surprisingly sweet and fat in the mouth, with rather chunky flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate, tobacco and cigar box. Here the tannins are a bit more rustic.... Stephen Tanzer.
