What to Expect

Riesling is a chameleon of a grape, able to produce world class wines that range from bone dry to unctuously sweet. Germany is most closely associated with Riesling, where all styles are made and the range of flavors runs the gamut from steely and crisp with crunchy mineral-driven flavors to fresh lime, apple and peach flavored expressions - even rich honied, candied fruit tones in the great dessert wines.

Winemakers Notes

Fred Loimer owns 26 hectares around Langenlois, in the Kamptal region of Lower Austria. A variety of grapes grown in the various vineyards in the Kamptal. Soils are mixed, and well-drained, with Gföhl gneiss (coarse grained, metamorphic rock containing quartz, felspar and mica) subsoil. Seeberg is a very charming wine with aromas that are flowery as well as exotic. Minerals, herbs and spices harmoniously reflect the terroir, while the play of fruit, sweetness and vivid acidity lend rich finesse. A concentrated, superbly structured Riesling with a long finish - defined by mineral - spice and fine tobacco notes.

Reviews

Fooled into thinking off-dry at first but, no, its crisp acid keeps the floral fruit in kilter. Layers and layers of complexity: kerosene, tobacco, minerals. Endlessly entertaining.
