What to Expect

Riesling is a chameleon of a grape, able to produce world class wines that range from bone dry to unctuously sweet. Germany is most closely associated with Riesling, where all styles are made and the range of flavors runs the gamut from steely and crisp with crunchy mineral-driven flavors to fresh lime, apple and peach flavored expressions - even rich honied, candied fruit tones in the great dessert wines.

Winemakers Notes

Fred Loimer owns 26 hectares planted with a range of varieties, around Langenlois, in the Kamptal region of Lower Austria. Unlike many Austrian producers who go for an overly rich and sweet style, Fred gets full ripeness in the vineyard yet ferments to dryness, managing to produce wines with lovely definition, zest and balance on the palate. This wine is clean and very fresh on the nose, with aromas of lime, green apple and apricot. Delicate, juicy fruit on the palate balances a mineral freshness characteristic of good Riesling.
