Lockwood Pinot Noir Monterey Block 7 2007
Wine Tasting Notes The Block 7 has a freshness that shows off the fruit of the Pinot Noir. The aromatics are reminirrent of rose petals with an essence of mulled spice. The color shows the hue of ruby and the flavors are delightful. Once in the glass all flavors show black cherry with a brisk hint of cranberry. The wine has balance and elegance and will keep your attention with generous layers of fruit.
Just about good enough to take to inspiration point when you're 18 and possibly don't know any better. Might be fine for cooking as well.
The scent of cloves is obvious at first but tones of cherry and lavender can be detected as well. The clove comes through on the palate mixed with spice and earthiness(in a good way). In my opinion, a good wine for the price and it would be a great find if it were a few dollars less expensive (purchased locally at 16.00).

Our vineyard and winery staff agree that the 2007 Lockwood Pinot Noir is excellent. Block 7 produced a wine of intense color and concentration showing balance and grace. In the glass the aromatic fruit character is highlighted with the finest of French oak tones, allowing the fruit to prevail. Clove spice, ripe cherry and dried cranberry are supported by an earthy and well rounded mid palate. This multi-layered Pinot Noir can be enjoyed with grilled salmon, pasta with pesto, and roasted pork tenderloin.
