Honied tropical fruit nose. Palate is slightly odd, oily and somewhat plasticky. Not my favorite, but I'm not much of a Pinot Grigio drinker. Read more

Lots of tropical fruits with a subtle gritty edge. Elegant long buttery finish.

White chocolate, honey, strawberries, on the nose and mouth, smooth and a little bit savory, but there is obvious negative space, and the wine lacks support on the palate.

Creamy aromas of apple pie, mineral and ripe mango. Very bright acidity. Full of citrus zest and minerality around a very bold acidity. It lingers. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 5/15/10

The wine is a distinctive straw color with copper highlights. On the nose and palate, there is apricot, peach, and strong minerality that may be expressive of the marl and sandstone terroir. Nicely acidic and slightly bitter on the finish.

The 2008 Pinot Grigio reveals layers of perfumed, floral fruit, showing lovely depth and richness. A long, refined finish rounds out this very pretty Pinot Grigio. Anticipated maturity: 2009–2011.

    Winemaker's Notes:

Livio Felluga emigrated from Istria and established his property in Brazzano in the 1950s. Convinced of the winemaking potential inherent in Collio and the Colli Orientali of Friuli, he bucked the trend of the times and started buying vineyards. He now has an amazing property, covering 160 hectares in Rosazzo of which 135 are under vine. Recently revitalised by Livio’s four children (Andrea, Maurizio, Elda and Filippo), the estate is now well on the way to reclaiming its rightful place among the great producers in Italy. The energy injected into the estate by the younger generation has been harnessed by consultant viticulturalist/winemaker Stefano Chioccioli. As a result of their combined work, the whites have acquired more intense and focused flavours, while the reds have a ripeness and suppleness that is seldom achieved in Friuli. This delightful Pinot Grigio is light straw in colour with pink or coppery lights reflecting the brief period of skin contact. Full and open on the nose, with perfumes of orange blossom and wild roses, with some exotic fruit notes. On the palate it has good depth, with tight, restrained flavours of peach and apricot, liquorice and white pepper. Dry, clean and fresh on the finish.
