Add your reviewVery smooth, bright fruit, and a touch of earth. Light tannins, and integrated acidity make this an easy drinking wine. Never had "Negroamaro" varietal before, but quite tasty!
Winemaker's Notes:
The Falvo brothers, previously owners of Avignonesi, the Montepulciano-based producer renowned for its Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Vin Santo, bought the Li Veli estate in 1999. The first vintage was 2000, and the quality of the wine confirmed to Ettore Falvo, the director of winemaking, the potential of the Salento peninsula for the production of top quality wines. With the 2007 vintage, the Flavo family brought in their winemaker from Avignonesi, Paolo Trappolini, as they felt that they weren’t getting the freshness or richness they wanted in the wines. The result is a huge stop forward in quality and confirmation that this estate is one of the new stars of the Italian wine scene. Fruit for Passamante was sourced from a 21 hectare low-lying vineyard. The vines are 80 years old. The grapes were hand picked in the first two weeks of September. The wine is an intense, ruby red colour. It has perfumes of ripe cherries and sweet fruit. It is well- balanced, with velvety texture fresh and fragrant, with a lively acidity maintaining its youthful exuberance.
