I bought three bottles of this wine from the website www.bibforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/35217 for a mere £5 so it was a real bargain.The Lis Neris winery [www.lisneris.it] is owned by Alvaro Pecorari,a fourth generation winemaker,has 60 hectares under vine and is located near the village of San Lorenzo in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the north-east corner of Italy close to the Slovenian border.The wine is made up of 40% gewurztraminer,40% pinot grigio,and 20% reisling and is fermented and aged in oak barrels.It is an IGT or Indicacione Geografica Tipica which is one step below a DOC or Denoninazione di Origine Controllata,the Italian equivalent of the French AOC in the Italian wine heirarchy.I opened the first bottle the other night to accompany my fish supper.It is a very dry wine but there is fruit there [think pears or mango] and there is a marked herbal or floral aftertaste.It seems to be an unusual wine but I enjoyed it.It did win two Italian awards, the Veronelli 2006 super tre Stella and the Luca Maroni Annuario2006 VinoFrutto and the 2008 version got a bronze medal from Decanter magazine
