This unoaked, naturally fermented chardonnay is made from a selection of vineyards planted on rocky, alluvial ldquo;creek-bedrdquo; soils. Itrsquo;s creamy and broad, with honeydew melon flavors and floral scents of apple blossoms and thistles. A simple, smooth chardonnay for prawns grilled with butter-and-sugar corn.

Pale gold. Vibrant, pure aromas of citrus fruit, flowers and herbs. Juicy lime and lemongrass flavors are complemented by notes of anise and honeysuckle. Gains power on the finish, which strongly repeats the anise note and offers good mineral cut. This is an outstanding value.

Fragrant, with fresh, floral pear, honeysuckle, fig and melon flavors that are clean and refreshing, gaining depth and nuance on the finish, with light toasty oak notes. Drink now through 2011.

Extremely aromatic - almost Viognier-like - in its fruity-floral notes. Perfumed with gardenia, orange blossom, green melon and pear, with just a touch of caramel and butter. Yet on the palate, the rich buttercream coats the tongue, while layers of crisp tropical fruits peek through. A truly dazzling white - bold, yet elegant. Easily worth twice the price!

Bright yellow-gold. Powerful scents of guava, tangerine, honey and herbs, with a subtle smoky quality in the background. Smooth and fleshy on entry, then more taut in the mid-palate, offering juicy tropical fruit and citrus pith flavors with a touch of anise. Finishes with very good persistence, solid grip and a resonating note of candied lemon.

Winemaker's Notes:

It's rare to encounter a California Chardonnay that's not hiding under a thick guise of buttery oak. If ever there were an example of what Chardonnay has the potential to be in California, this is certainly it. Kevin O'Connor, the former wine director at Wolfgang Puck's famous LA restaurant, Spago, is co-founder of this incredible winery, which is reinventing the definition of California wine. This fantastic Carneros bottling is completely unoaked and brims with clean, brilliant notes of ripe apple and lemon curd. This is fresh, mouth-filling and just beautiful on the palate.
