Lindemans, one of Australia's most successful exporters, is well known for creating varietally true, inexpensive chardonnay in its Bin 65. And although Australia is not known for merlot, Lindemans has set out to change that with its new Bin 40. The wine is simple, smooth and light in the mouth, with enough of the soft, chocolatey richness and herbal elements to define it as merlot. A versatile red.

Schmeichelnder Abgang.

The LINDEMANS Bin 40 Merlot begins with red and black berry aromas, with hints of chocolate, spice and earthiness. Delicious red berry flavors are supported by darker, earthier tones in this medium-bodied, elegant wine. Oak maturation adds a creamy, almost nutty complexity to the long soft finish. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **

Bright and juicy, with dark berry and peppery flavors and a touch of cedar on the finish. Drink now.

Attention Merlot fans: Check out this reasonably priced version, supple and appealing for its minty cherry flavors that linger gently on the finish. Enjoyable now through 2000.
