Lindemans, one of Australia's most successful exporters, is well known for creating varietally true, inexpensive chardonnay in its Bin 65. And although Australia is not known for merlot, Lindemans has set out to change that with its new Bin 40. The wine is simple, smooth and light in the mouth, with enough of the soft, chocolatey richness and herbal elements to define it as merlot. A versatile red.

The Lindemans South Africa wines are made with fruit sourced from key grape growing regions in the Western Cape region of South Africa. The Western Cape of South Africa and surrounding areas have a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and good winter rainfall. A multi-district blend from vineyards in the Western Cape region of South Africa with significant sourcing from the Robertson Valley. We have been careful to use small quantities of French oak to make sure that the attractive fruit is not overwhelmed. All of the wine went through malolactic fermentation. Bright cherry red Blueberry and dark chocolate combine to give a rich aromatic bouquet. The flavor of the wine is stacked full of ripe delicious fruit flavors, raspberry and licorice combine to produce an impression of the sunny region in which the grapes were grown. The grape expresses itself in the wine with the characteristic softness and fullness for which Merlot is known.
