A perennial "best buy," the 1998 is meritorious. The wine's light to medium straw color is accompanied by a delightful bouquet of citrusy, honeyed Chardonnay fruit with no oak in evidence. Crisp, medium-bodied, fresh, and lively, it should be enjoyed over the next 12 months.
Bright, fruity and appealing, with pretty tropical fruit and nectarine flavors that pick up a hint of vanilla on the fresh finish. A good bottle of Chardonnay - good price, good availability.
Youthful, with a cascade of spicy fig and melon flavors keeping it lively to the finish. Has considerably more going for it than most value-priced Chardonnays, and the case production suggests it shouldn't be hard to find. Drink now.
Another solid vintage for Bin 65, one of the brands that for many people is synonymous with popular-priced Aussie Chardonnay. Wiht its round mouthfeel, sweet tropical fruit, hay and melon flavors accented by soft oak, it's no surprise why. Flavorful and affordable, and widely available.
Smoky and oaky, with modest pear and lemon flavors and a soft texture. Not particularly deep or long, but easy to enjoy.
Ripe melon, fig and grapefruit aromas accentuated by a touch of sweet, nutty oak. Flavors are soft and creamy, lightly toasted and crisp on the finish.
Fresh and silky, with pretty pear and spice flavors, finishing smooth. Drink now.
The Lindemans South Africa wines are made with fruit sourced from key grape growing regions in the Western Cape region of South Africa. The Western Cape of South Africa and surrounding areas have a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and good winter rainfall. A multi-district blend from vineyards in the Western Cape region of South Africa with significant sourcing from the Robertson Valley. The wine was matured with French and American oak. Green, with slight straw Melons and tropical aromas are enhanced by a hint of grapefruit and some sweet vanilla from the oak. Very attractive Chardonnay fruit flavors, tropical with slight citrus. Some creamy texture gives the impression of a fuller flavored wine but this wine has a lightness, which encourages the next mouthful to be taken.
