Deep gold in color, with nut, peach and overt floral aromas. Bright and tropical on the palate, with a soft, almost oily feel; shows its alcohol on the finish.
Pleasant, with pear and pepper flavors that persist nicely on a harmonious finish. Drink now.
This recommendation is more of a reader reminder than breaking news, because the Bin 65 has been Australia's hallmark value-priced white since 1985. But it is still a reliable, inexpensive choice as well as Australia's most-exported white wine. Bouncy yellow fruit on the palate is accented by spicy, gingery notes that seem a little grown-up for a wine of this price. Fat, ripe nectarines and peaches, plus some nutmeg and cream, waft from the nose. the 2002 Bin 65 Cab (85 points, $8) is also a great buy.
This is a straightforward Chardonnay offering tropical fruit notes, good underlying acidity, light to medium body, and a clean finish. Drink this pleasant, uncomplex 2002 over the next year.
Early vintages of this were great values, and the 2006 version is a solid effort as well, offering up aromas of smoky, grilled fruit and toasted marshmallow. It's medium-bodied, with spicy, orangey flavors that fall away quickly on the finish. Drink now.
One of the Australian Chards to start it all here in the U.S., Bin 65 remains a solid value. The 2008 features hints of movie popcorn and peaches on the nose, enough tropical fruit to provide a plump texture and a soft, friendly finish.
Fresh and silky, with pretty pear and spice flavors, finishing smooth. Drink now.
The Lindemans Reserve Range of Wines are full flavored wines of outstanding quality and elegance. Our Lindemans winemakers have blended premium wine from Australian vineyards to craft wines that are the ultimate expression of Lindemans multi-regional winemaking philosophy. These wines are varietally expressive and give consumers a profound drinking experience without overshadowing the food or the occasion. The resources of Lindemans and the passion of its skilled winemaking team ensure that these wines are of consistently outstanding quality and offer consumers excellent value for money.2006 saw a warmer than usual winter, spring and summer with above average rain fall in the growing season. These conditions contributed to a fruitful growing season and despite lower than average autumn temperatures, the crop ripened readily. The nose shows white peach and tropical fruit aromas set against a charry oak complexity. The palate bursts with sweet, peachy fruit and balancing acidity all complimented by creamy, malolactic fermentation characters. The long finish shows well.
