Lindemans Chardonnay Padthaway 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

The Lindemans Reserve Range of Wines are full flavored wines of outstanding quality and elegance. Our Lindemans winemakers have blended premium wine from Australian vineyards to craft wines that are the ultimate expression of Lindemans multi-regional winemaking philosophy. These wines are varietally expressive and give consumers a profound drinking experience without overshadowing the food or the occasion. The resources of Lindemans and the passion of its skilled winemaking team ensure that these wines are of consistently outstanding quality and offer consumers excellent value for money.2006 saw a warmer than usual winter, spring and summer with above average rain fall in the growing season. These conditions contributed to a fruitful growing season and despite lower than average autumn temperatures, the crop ripened readily. The nose shows white peach and tropical fruit aromas set against a charry oak complexity. The palate bursts with sweet, peachy fruit and balancing acidity all complimented by creamy, malolactic fermentation characters. The long finish shows well.

Ripe melon, fig and grapefruit aromas accentuated by a touch of sweet, nutty oak. Flavors are soft and creamy, lightly toasted and crisp on the finish.

Smoky and oaky, with modest pear and lemon flavors and a soft texture. Not particularly deep or long, but easy to enjoy.

Ripe and sweet. A silky, soft-textured wine that has some nice floral and honey flavors, with apple notes on the finish. Drinkable now.

The streak continues! Lindeman's '99 boasts a fresh and enticing floral bouquet, a mouthful of juicy tropical fruit, and their trademark creamy oak and spice finish.

Vintage after vintage Lindemans Bin 65 is one of the most reliable inexpensive chardonnays around. The '95 vintage in Austrailia was an extremely short crop , which usually means the higher-priced wines get the best grapes, and the inexpensive wines suffer in quality. In the case of Bin 65, Lindemans has managed to maintain a fine level of quality for the price - a remarkable achievement in such a vintage. The '95 has the typical clean and fresh Bin 65 style, with flavors based on chardonnay grapes rather than oak-influence. It's long and smooth, with an appealing leesy, butternut scented finish.
