Linaje Garsea Crianza Ribera del Duero 2014

Member Review by ryanopaz:

Deep purple and very dark The nose is smokey vanilla with anise, dark cherries and more. Rich in the mouth with a medium high acidity and medium tannins. Flavors of cherries, anise round out the palate with a finish that is lighter than I would have wanted. 2.5/5 [NR]

Colour: Cherry red, with purple glints on the rim. Viscous, clean, bright, with impressively vivid colour due to time spent in the barrel. Nose: Rich in very intense, fresh fruit aromas, of blackberries and redcurrants, touches of oak (cinnamon, toffee, caramel) balsamic and vanilla background. Alcoholic notes that reinforce the overall fruitiness. Palate: Fairly dry onset but very fruity and powerful. Smooth progression. Shows complexity. Longlasting finish with slight touches of alcohol.

There are currently 7 members of the family involved with production at the winery. A family belief is that quality is produced in the vineyard. Very low yields, no chemicals or pesticides and harvesting at night all go toward upholding this belief. Incredible wines are produced, which really reflect the terroir without the heavy alcohol content or tannins that often mar some wines from this region. Grapes : 100% Tempranillo Region : Spain / Castilla y Leon / Ribera del Duero DO Maker : Gabriel Garcia Martinez Notes : Aromatic and fruity, with a delicious blend of oak, mature fruit, plums and berry. Light notes of vanilla, cinnamon and balsamic hints with liquorice, clove and toasty notes. A fully expressive wine, deliciously full bodied with powerful long lingering tones of fruit and oak. Serve : At 17c with paella, lamb and light red meats, spanish smoked and cured sausages, hams and stews. ABV : 14%
