Lieu-Dit les Fosses d'Hareng Vouvray 2005

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

It was a Sunday and my boyfriend and I were having dinner with my grandparents. I had just gotten back from Brooklyn and had this killer Mexican corn, and I had to try to make it for everyone. We grabbed some sweet corn on the cob, a cut of haddock and this lovely Vouvray. The main grape in Vouvray happens to be Chenin Blanc, which also happens to be Francersquo;s answer to Germanyrsquo;s Riesling. It is a multifaceted grape, producing wines in a range of bone dry to super-sweet styles. This particular wine was a perfect match: dry, but juicy! A nose of crisp green apple, rich and creamy at first, followed by a burst of pear and apple flavors, finishing up with a lively acidity and a bright citrus tang that lingered. We took the rest home and it was simply beautiful by itself. Give something new a try; yoursquo;ll shout hooray for Vouvray!

The Chenin Blanc grape can be vinified anywhere from bone-dry to very sweet. This falls in between, with a lilting sweetness that's carried by crisp acidity.

Light and fresh, with off-dry pear and fig flavors and a modest finish. Drink now.

This fine Vouvray has a nose of crisp green apple. The wine is rich and creamy at first, followed by an off-dry burst of pear and apple flavors that finish with lively acidity.
