Lieb Family Cellars Chardonnay North Fork Reserve 2004

External Review by Sam's Wine:

Lieb Chardonnay Reserve has become recognized as one of the best values in a world of pricey chardonnay's, this wine has complexity, balance and finesse. The 2004 is very similar to the acclaimed 2002 vintage (winner of two gold medals) with a straw color and a bouquet of apple pear and honey. On the palate, flavors of baked apple and pear dominate, with hints of orange rind, cinnamon, honey and fig. As always, this wine was whole cluster pressed in stainless, using only the first run juice, which accounts for the vibrant fruit. The wine received six months of finishing in neutral French oak barrels to build complexity and richness. Only 900 cases produced.
