You get a lot of pleasure from this affordable Cab. It’s dry, moderate in alcohol which gives it a light mouthfeel, and quite pleasant in classic flavors of blackberries, currants and herbs, touched with smoky oak. Elegantly constructed, it’s one of the best Cabernets of the vintage at this price.
This wine admirably represents the place where it was grown, displaying the gentle texture often associated with Paso Robles cabernet. The fruit is soft and plummy, trimmed by a savory dried herb character and bittersweet tannins. Its measured richness would play well with pork chops off the grill.

For over three decades, Liberty School has been among the best values in California wine. In the early 1980’s, Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles caught the attention of renowned Napa Valley vintner Chuck Wagner of Caymus Vineyards. Because of the incredible quality and value of their Paso Robles Cab, Wagner approached Hope Farms in search of Cabernet for his second label wine, Liberty School. The Hope family helped build the brand’s solid reputation over the years and in 1996, the Hopes took over the label. Austin Hope, who started working under Chuck Wagner, in the early 1990s, heads the winemaking team and their goal has always been the same; to produce delicious, fruit-driven, varietally correct wines at reasonable prices. This 2009 scored 90 points in Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "You get a lot of pleasure from this affordable Cab. One of our favorite everyday BBQ Cabernets has returned. That's right grab a Liberty School Cabernet and be sure to get the grill going.

Winemaker's Notes:
The 2009 Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of black cherry, plum and violets, followed by subtle flavors of red berries and cedar on the mid-palate. Firm yet supple tannins finish off this approachable, fruit-driven Cabernet Sauvignon, making it ideal for a variety of food pairings.
