The nose is a bit swampy at first, but then it refines into that roadside smell of lettuce crops and freshly-tilled-and-treated, clay-rich earth that fills your car from Santa Barbara to SLO. Hmmmm, I guess the best I can say is to keep on looking. Overall the wine had a very earthy taste too much for me. The color was nice but taste and smell was below what I had expected.

The 2007 Liberty School Cuvee displays bright red fruit flavors on the nose.With accents of smoke and pepper, the fruit-forward blend shows fine graintannins which are reminiscent of wines from the southern Rhone Valley. Thepredominant grape, Syrah, shows off its jammy, strawberry and plum-likeflavors. Petite Sirah adds deep ruby color and tannin structure. Smalleramounts of Grenache soften the wine and add needed balance. Mourvedrebrings an element of spice to the blend, while small amounts of Viognier addfloral aromatics and color stabilization.
