Lewis Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley 2011
Packs plenty of pear and apple with honeysuckle, piecrust and creamy oak. Ripe and satiny in texture a second tier of sweet stone mineral, custard and toast, adds depth and complexity with plenty of natural acid driving to a long finish. 1,000 cases produced. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 95 points by Connoisseurs' Guide: Lewis Chardonnays are always among the richer bottlings to be had, and, when as well-balanced as the brace from 2010, they take their usual place at the head of the class... a big, broad, no-holds-barred wine whose sweeping fruit and unabashed oak are wholly in sync and seamlessly knit. Its striking length is as impressive as its concentration and depth, but this is not a wine for those looking for a lean, soft-spoken effort. Rather than oysters and their ilk, this one will shine with dishes wanting authoritative Chardonnay and is guaranteed to delight fans of the same.
In 1992, Debbie and Randy Lewis established a small family winery with their son Dennis. Total production is approximately 9,000 cases annually of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah. We are literally hands-on in every aspect of vineyard management, winemaking, sales and distribution, and we thrive on this challenge and the relationships we cultivate in the process. It is our continuing goal to create world class wines.
