Lewis Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

Juicy, ripe and fruitful our 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet captures the kitchen aromas of home jam-making. Creamy vanilla and wood spice together with black plum, truffle and earth give the nose delectable character. Flush with fruit, dusky, dense and polished the wine finishes with cushy, dark-chocolate tannins.Winery Notes

Lewis Cellars:
In 1992, Debbie and Randy Lewis established a small family winery with their son Dennis. Total production is approximately 9,000 cases annually of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah. We are literally hands-on in every aspect of vineyard management, winemaking, sales and distribution, and we thrive on this challenge and the relationships we cultivate in the process. It is our continuing goal to create world class wines.

Red plum color. Very attractive dark fruit on the tongue—blackberry, blueberry, black plum. Some suggestion of pencil lead. Some bitter chocolate. While I am pleased with the sturdy backbone provided by the tannin and acid, I am not at all disappointed that I am not allocating more cellar space to age this one longer.

This wine has very rich fruit flavors, lots of tannins, and a very deep oak flavor. Too strong for my taste

This is a previous selection of the Gold Medal Wine Club- Platinum Series. A rare exception for an exceptional wine. Normally, part of the Platinum Series selection criteria requires scores in the 90s and/or multiple top honors in the prestigious wine industry competitions. Lewis Cellars’small production of esteemed wines is routinely and entirely allocated prior to general release. So, if you want it, you buy it, and wait patiently for the avalanche of accolades to follow. The Wine Spectator commented recently about Lewis Cellars’ consistent track record of above 90-point ratings— “It’s a record of excellence that few California wineries can rival. [They are] one of the superstar labels of Napa Valley.” Winery tasting notes on their newly released 2003 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon tell the story “. . . outstanding deep rich color, aromas of cocoa, currants and sweet oak spice that are complex, rich and focused. A multi layered broad round mouth-feel of generous plum, currant and blackberry fruit encompassed by toasty oak tantalize the taste buds. The wine’s distinct chocolate flavors become clear and apparent as the finish builds on the palate. Soft, supple and integrated tannins. You can drink this wine now or cellar up to 2010 and beyond.”

Supple and fleshy, with appealing ripe plum and black cherry fruit that's layered. Rich, complex and elegant, gaining weight and persistence on the finish, where the flavors fan out nicely. Drink now through 2020. 2,000 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2008 Lewis Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Offers wonderful complexity, richness, depth and finesse. Full-bodied, with creamy, mocha-laced oak, currant, mineral, tobacco and plum flavors that are bold yet elegant, focused and polished, ending with a long, lingering finish. Drink now through 2018.

Former Indy race car driver Randy Lewis and his wife, Debbie, have a record for excellence that few in the Golden State can match. They consistently make Chardonnays, Syrahs and Cabernets worth seeking out, and have compiled an impressive 61 outstanding releases since the winery's founding in 1994. This year, their Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 offers uncommon richness and value. The Lewises don't own any vineyards; instead, they buy grapes harvested from vineyards throughout Napa Valley to make their wines.

Smooth, rich and concentrated, with a tasty core of wild berry, blackberry, plum and mocha, all neatly tailored, delivering a wonderful gush of fruit, spice and jazzy oak. A seductive youngster. Best from 2004 through 2012.

The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon's aromas benefit from aeration, beginning life closed and austere, but picking up speed to reveal wonderfully cedary, black currant fruit nicely nuanced by smoky new oak. Medium to full-bodied and elegant, with admirable purity, expansiveness, and balance, this impeccably well-made Cabernet will drink well for 8-10 years.

Amazingly rich and complex, with flavor to burn, this wine stacks up wild berry, currant and blackberry fruit and then fairly smothers it with intense smoky, toasty, chocolaty oak. While immense and concentrated, it's also very well-balanced, and the finish echoes fruit and oak, on and on. In this style, few can rival it. Drink one now; cellar a few. Drink now through 2012.
