Levendi Chardonnay 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Point Palates October Wine ClubThis is a truly impressive Chardonnay. It combines Californian fruit (think tropical notes) with a deft application of oak. Not overpowering in its oakiness, this Chardonnay really delivers with elegance! Try with hard, aged cheeses for a revolutionary flavor combination. -Rob's Staff Pick 92 pts -Robert ParkerSuperb Chardonnay with notes of honeyed pear, citrus, and some subtle oak, this wine is full-bodied, opulent, beautifully pure, with good underlying acidity, but loads of flesh and fruit. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.

Today, Mediterranean communities still hold wine in the highest regard. And from one generation to the next, wine is propagated, refined and shared with family. Our family, the Gianulias', has a strong Greek tradition of private winemaking dating back for centuries. Since 1926, on American—and Napa Valley—soil, we have propagated, refined and developed special handcrafted vintages to share with our family. And yours. The Greek toast "Levendi" acknowledges a hard day's labor and achievement. It celebrates the fields, the rain and the sun that nurture our special grapes. Essentially, it's a toast "to celebrate life." And it is the philosophy on which we craft our wine. Read less

A Morrell Discovery! This small, Greek owned winery makes but 3 wines: 2 Cabernets and this stunning Chardaoonay produced from the famous Wente Clone brought to California in the mid 1960s from Corton Charlemagne! The rich, creamy, exotic-fruits, oaky exterior of the wine is beautifully balanced by firn acidity and palpable minerality.

Brilliant and straw-like in appearance. Lovely creamy pear and caramel apple, with a beautiful vanilla nuance. Elegant and crisp, with minerally apple and lemon flavors. A rich and dramatic wine
