My first experience with this grape. Very similar to a Chardonnay. If you are a fan of Chardonnay, this may be a good choice for you. Read more

Intense, crisp acidity shines on this young wine. Itrsquo;s concentrated citrus is like sucking a lemon. This character shows its potential for aging. It will develop richer, secondary flavors over the next 2ndash;3 years. Screwcap.
Pale green-yellow. Fresh pear and green apple with discreet meadow herbs and lemon zest on the nose. In the mouth, mango and celery notes join in, with a lively acid structure carrying the winersquo;s fruit. Lemon-laced fruit and wet stream pebbles linger on the finish. Drink now to 2012.
A denser style of grüner is found in this bottle. From porous, mineral rich loess soils in Wagram, Austria, a ripe wine filled with peardrops and white grapefruit on nose and palate speaks plainly of its origins. The lengthy finish is of smoke and apricots. Absolutely delicious with shrimp salads, mild cheeses and white sausages.
Today, the Leth family cultivates their wines using sustainable methods and vast knowledge of Austrian grapes. The Wagram, a rocky outcrop which stretches across the north bank of the Danube all the way from Krems to east of Vienna, is the distinct location where their grapevines grow. The area looks back on a one thousand-year old history of winegrowing. Already the Romans had recognized the favorable environment for growing wine grapes. Grüner Veltliner feels particularly well on the gentle loess terraces oriented almost exclusively towards the south. It is there where Grüner Veltliner develops its spicy-peppery flavors which are so highly appreciated by Veltliner lovers.
This Austrian white comes from the Wagram, located about 50 miles west of Vienna on the Danube River. The "Steinagrund" vineyard is based on loess soils, a preferred composition for the Grüner Veltliner grape. This is a dry white that's very giving on the palate with white pepper, white grapefruit and a floral aroma that will have you hooked before you know it. I'ts organic too.
