Les Penitents Chardonnay 2006
On the route to Santiago di Compostela the pilgrims would pass through the village of La Charité-sur-Loire and were able to refresh themselves with the wines of Nièvre. The terroir of this region enchanted Alphonse Mellot who saw the potential to make un chardonnay qui 'sauvignonne' combining the imprint of mineral Chablis with the aromatic expression of Sancerre. The vibrant purity of this wine will redeem oysters, shellfish and goat's cheese; it would be a sin of omission not to try it.
