Medium ruby. Aromas of crystallized cassis, licorice, graphite and mint. Dense but backward, and thus not showing its flesh today. But offers lovely sweetness, and subtle floral and licorice nuances. ($65-$95) Very good red-ruby. Exotic aromas of roasted red berries and spices. Sweet, lush, broad and impressively ripe. Flavors of black cherry, licorice and shoe polish are at once classic Pauillac and compellingly exuberant. Complicated by a lovel... Stephen Tanzers IWC. The 2000 Les Forts de Latour is a seriously endowed wine with notes of black walnuts, black currants, crushed rock, tobacco and spice box. Full-bodied, luscious but still in need of another 2-3 years to hit full maturity, it certainly can evolve for another 15 or more years, and looks to be slightly richer and longer-lived than I originally predicted.
