Planted to 50% cabernet sauvignon 40% merlot 5% petit verdot 5% cabernet franc. Red fruit characterizes both the bouquet and palate. Both acid and tannins seem to come in powerful waves. Give this a few years to come together knowing it has a 10-15 year drinking window. Roland Hankerson.

The wine displays a sustained and brilliant color of great depth with all the elegance of an evening gown. The nose has already evolved and shows black currant and other black fruit aromas. On the palate the wine's tannins are soft and smooth with a steady balance and a long fresh finish. Aromas of fruit tobacco and licorice harmoniously blend with those from the oak giving rise to flavors which coat the palate without roughness. The overall impression is of a tender and soft wine which has passed through a spirited youth to reveal the elegance typical of Cantemerle's terroir. Harmony and a certain femininity define this wine which demonstrates this property's legendary ability to produce vintages which maintain a potential for great finesse at every stage of their evolution Winemaker notes
