This wine has surprising heft and is slightly backward. Deep blackberry and coffee notes electrify the olfactory bulbs but streaks of astringency may detract from overall drinking pleasure. Still, there is good structure and balance and this suggests a long life. Hold until 2012 or later. This edition has the classified growth quality sometimes absent in prior vintages.
Black fruit and spice on this elegant nose. Soft black fruit on the palate - a touch thin. A smooth and balanced wine with a very good finish. Cantemerle has surprised me! In a blind tasting, I might call this a Margaux.
équilibré, dense, nez vert ? Mais élégant, léger, arômes "pyro", rond, finesse
Received this wine as the result of a NCAA basketball tourney bet. We weren't sure what to expect and weren't even sure what haut-medoc is. It has a strong berry and mint nose and medium tannins. We should probably have laid it down for a few more years as it tastes super young and tight. Paired it with hamburgers since we didn't know better, but think it would do better with a nice pork chop. Would buy it again.
External Reviews for Les Allees de Cantemerle
Quality at this property has been rising dramatically over the last several vintages. Cantemerle will never be a blockbuster claret, but rather one built on finesse and elegance. Hints of menthol, black cherries, cranberries, and blueberries emerge from the 2006's perfumed bouquet. Medium body, impressive purity, good underlying texture, and sweet tannin suggest this elegantly-styled wine will drink well between 2009-2020+.

As I indicated last year, quality has improved dramatically at this estate, and the 2006 is a quintessentially elegant Bordeaux displaying a dark ruby/purple color, a lovely bouquet of forest floor, sweet cherries, cranberries, and black currants, me...
