Leroy Maranges 2004
At Domaine LEROY, we have been cultivating our vines under biodynamic conditions since 1989. This means that our wines are free of all chemical treatments, weed killers, pesticides, fungicides, insecticides and artificial fertilizers. Instead, we have stepped back in time and use cosmic rhythms to ensure correct soil tilling and recuperation as well as effective vine care through all phases of the year's cycle.
way too early, but no way I could keep my hands off of this. popped and poured. lighter color than I expected- very tight nose with some spice and raspberry notes. palate is very young- very tannic, with real depth- some sour cherry and herbal (not green) notes. not bad today, tons in reserve. I'll wait at least 5 years to try another and won't open my Leroy villages wines from 2004 for at least that long as well.
lovely crystal ruby color- beguiling nose of flowers, mocha and cinnamon. the palate is very intense with considerable grace and persistence. Very good- will be interesting to follow.
