Leonetti Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley 2008
This wine is distinctively Walla Walla. The nose is an exotic array of spices, dried herbs, lavender, charcuterie, mocha, cassis, vanilla, and ripe red and black fruits. The wine has incredible density, with very ripe tannin that is suave on the palate. The finish is ultra long and pleasant. Cabernet Sauvignon 77%, Merlot 16%, Carmenere 4%, Malbec 3%. Not yet reviewed; 2007 vintage rated 97 points by Wine Enthusiast.
Each of our vineyard solis shape the wine that comes from it. This is the essence of terroir. The soil of Seven Hills at the south end of the Valley is Ellisford Silt Loam.

Dense, aromatic, layered and rich, this wine explodes from the glass with scents and flavors of concentrated berries, cassis, black cherry, and more. The vines have reached a mature stage that amplifies the fruit and keeps the generous barrel flavors in perfect balance. The barrel notes roll on a chorus of toasty accents, and the finish is as good in the last minute as the first whiff from the glass.
WE 98pts Editors Choice - Winemaker Notes - Our Cabernet is very dark to the rim and has a complex aroma of cinnamon toast, red and black fruits, Christmas spices, nutmeg, coffee, and a hint of gun powder. On the palate it has very long, fine-grained, slightly chalky tannins, perfect acid balance, and a beautiful glycerin feeling that gives it tremendous length in its finish.

A deep-pile, plush carpet of a Cabernet, from Washington, this is smooth and velvety, with layer upon layer of juicy blackberry, prune, plum, spice and vanilla flavors that linger beautifully and get richer with each sip. Tempting now, but best from 2002 or so.
The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bigger, more structured wine. Dense, layered, and with a suave personality, it will continue to blossom for another 5andndash;6 years and should see its 20th birthday in fine form.
Though the 2001 was exceedingly tannic, the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is superb. Its cassis liqueur, blackberry, and spice aromas lead to a juicy, fresh, hugely ripe personality of exceptional purity and length. Blackberries, black currants, and dark cherries vie with spices and oak for the taster's attention. A complex, highly expressive, vibrant wine with a delightfully long, suave finish, it is a candidate for drinking over the next 10-14 years.
Deep ruby-red. Highly aromatic, floral aromas of black plum, cassis, mulberry, toffee, coffee and licorice. Round, lush and sweet on entry, then pliant and chewy in the middle, with captivating sweetness. Densely packed and structured yet light on its feet. A real essence of cabernet, and very long on the finish. This may well merit an even higher score with three or four more years of bottle aging.
