Leone de Castris Salento Bianco Verdeca Messapia 2009
Editorial Reviews for Leone de Castris Salento Bianco Verdeca Messapia
Rich with aromas of pineapple, melon, orange gel candies and a certain light waxiness this is attractive if a touch simple. Round in the mouth with good acid and a refreshing feel while delivering simple yet attractive lemon, candied lime and light honeydew flavors. The modest finish is acid driven and lemony. 83pts
I loved this wine! Very fresh and crisp, easy drinking yet complex enough to make your palate ponder a bit. Unique and different - a great way to branch out and try a new grape!
Crisp nose of lemon/lime zest, crushed rocks and white flowers. The palate is just like the nose- citrus zest, florals, minerality. Focused and crisp, good acidity, medium finish.

"The 2009 Verdeca Bianco Messapia is one of the finest wines I have tasted from Puglia. Bright citrus
WA 90pts - Winemaker Notes - Verdeca grapes express themselves with the characteristic straw yellow and greenish highlights. The nose has interesting hints of wild flowers together with citrus fruits as bergamot and exotic as pineapple. It has a fresh taste, sapid and nicely persistent. Very good with seafood dishes and fresh cheese. Serve at 8-10 C.
