Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Incredibly fruity with notes of cacao, chocolate and spice. Rich plummy fruits burst out, and even with this, the wine displays great balance. There's age and some secondary characteristics are beginning to shine: mushrooms and a nice earthiness. Plenty of tannins remain for additional aging. Good structure and lots of tannin on the finish. A great wine.
