What to Expect

Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.

Reviews

This one seems a touch young. Lighter flavors and aromas than the Thea's Selection. Seems rather closed at the moment. Strawberry with an earthy/leather component that stands out. Needs time. Excellent - 89 points.

Sweet red and black cherry aromas are mixed with hints of cola berry, smoky oak and earth. The flavors are dark, dense blackberry and dark cherry flavors. A long and earthy finish demonstrates the Meyer Vineyard's potential for longterm aging.

Got this beauty for 20 bones at the wine store on 4th ave and 13th st, in NY. Red berries on the nose, some strawberry. Tar, some spice, great tannins, some acid. I haven't had a wine with great tannins in a month or so. Good shit.
