Lemelson Meyer Vineyard 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

"Bright, lithe and appealing for its invitingtexture and pretty red berry and guava flavors, the raspberry noteslingering on the refined finish. Drink now through 2012. 394 casesmade. HS"91 pointsThe Wine Spectator, December 15th, 2008"The 2006 Pinot Noir Meyer Vineyard exhibits a dollop of eucalyptus toaccompany fragrant spice box, cherry and rose petal aromas. On thepalate it is friendly and forward with good depth and length butwithout the structure for extended cellaring. Drink it over the nextfour years. Lemelson Vineyards is certified organic whichencompasses six estate vineyards and 120 producing acres. All of thewines are fermented with native yeasts."89 pointsJay Miller, The Wine Advocate #179, Oct. 2008"Winemakers maintain that the Jory soils of Dundee Hillsproduce wines with more red and blue fruits, while Willakenzie soilsare believed to make wines with blue to black fruits. In some vintages, that tenet is clearly accurate. In 2006, the ripeness of the fruit atMeyer outweighed the dictate of the soil. The 2006 Meyer is one of thedarkest of our single vineyard wines. The nose combines dark fruit andspice with lifted floral aromatics that reveal subtle hints oflicorice, smoked tea, nutmeg and earth. The palate follows suit withblack cherry, blueberry, and lush blackberry flavors that we all agreereminds us of our strong desire for summer. The Jory soils perhapsspeak through on the finsh, with raspberry notes and a long, lovelytexture."Winery Notes

We didn’t take a typical route to entering the wine business, (if such a path actually exists!). Pinot noir is often a passion that finds you as much as you find it. As you may realize, however, once it’s got a hold of you, there’s no turning back. We came to the world of wine from many different backgrounds: environmental policy, information technology, delivering babies , and several other professions, including wine wholesaling. Like other Pinot fanatics, we love what we do, and believe that our wines reflect our dedication to our craft. We also live and work as an extended family in our vineyards and in the winery. For several months during harvest, we see each other more than we see our spouses and children! We try to remember to give thanks throughout for the blessings of good land, good friends, and good work, and we definitely appreciate the beauty of Western Oregon on a daily basis! Herein are a few details about Who We Are. Read less

This one seems a touch young. Lighter flavors and aromas than the Thea's Selection. Seems rather closed at the moment. Strawberry with an earthy/leather component that stands out. Needs time. Excellent - 89 points.

Got this beauty for 20 bones at the wine store on 4th ave and 13th st, in NY. Red berries on the nose, some strawberry. Tar, some spice, great tannins, some acid. I haven't had a wine with great tannins in a month or so. Good shit.
