Left Coast Cellars Pinot Noir Cali's Cuvee 2015

Editorial Review by Snooth Editorial:

Quite hot on the nose, but with a lovely floral note of crushed violet and nice red fruit. The heat suggests this may be a bit young today, but the heady fruit is still quite exquisite and inviting in the glass. In the mouth it's full and rich, with ripe red bunches of raspberry, strawberry and dark cherry. The soft tannins concentrate on the front of the palate and contribute some good texture along with wooded flavors of cedar, toast and leather. Stony minerality brightens the finish, which is quite long and well balanced, with just a slight hint of fruit sweetness on the finish. 90 pts

Our estate consists of 306 acres, 100 of which are devoted to the cultivation of grapes. The topography of Left Coast is a bowl, with steep hills facing west, north and south, creating a natural amphitheater surrounding a large meadow and spring fed lake, central to the gravity fed irrigation of our vines. We have chosen to plant grapes on only the predominantly southern facing slopes. The remainder of the property is preserved as one of the last remaining stands of original old growth White Oaks in the area and also contains fruit orchards, meadows, lakes and streams. The bodies of water attract migrating birds and encourage birds of prey, helping to balance animal life in the vineyards. An increasing importance is being placed on the park like nature of the property through expanded gardening and flowering areas. Additionally, four acres of hazelnut trees, shrub roses and holly oaks were planted to foster the cultivation of European truffles that we view as a welcome complement to our fine wine production. Fruity with balancing acid and light tannins. Easy drinker that everyone can enjoy.
