L'Ecole No. 41 Sémillon Columbia Valley Barrel Fermented 1999

Winemaker's Notes:

Variety: 85% Semillon, 15% Sauvignon Blanc This wine is a blend of several Columbia Valley vineyards, including 39% Yakima Bend Ranch, 24% Klipsun, 16% Quilomene, 13% Charbonneau, and 8% Vanessa’s Vineyard here in the Walla Walla Valley. Description: Bright and crisp, this toasty floral wine shows nutty fig flavors with a honey lemon zest. The barrel fermentation contributes a rich mouthfeel with a touch of vanilla and crisp acidity on the long and enduring finish. Vinification: The fruit was lightly whole-cluster pressed to tank and allowed to settle. The juice was then racked off the solids into mostly second year French oak barrels where it was inoculated with Prise de Mousse yeast. 65% of the wine was aged sur lie for six months. Malolactic fermentation was introduced in barrel, resulting in a rich mouthfeel and a creamy full finish.
