Lealtanza Reserva 2004

Member Review by dynowine:

Tested on well-aired bottle, about 3 hrs. Nose of dry smoky earth and dark fruit. In the mouth balanced, centered, chewy, smoky, dark dry ripe neither sweet nor sour fruit (cassis, plum) with noticeable tannin at the finish and fruit and acid fading. Dry. Body medium, Acid medium plus, tannin medium plus.

Bodegas Altanza -located in Fuenmayor, at the heart of Upper Rioja- is surrounded by tempranillo vineyards. It is thus sited in one of the most fertile and privileged lands of the Denomination/ Apellation of Origin Rioja. The winery –its premises and gardens– is conceived, designed and built with the same heart as is put into its winemaking. We have used the noblest materials for its construction, striving always to blend tradition and modernity. This philosophy is easily noticed as soon as one takes a glance at the exterior appearance, but also at the beauty and functionality of the interiors –even the wines show a balance between oak and fruit.
