Shows aromas of ripe strawberry, with hints of green coffee bean. Medium-bodied, with soft, delicious fruit and a long finish. A juicy, fresh wine. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now.
The 2007 Le Volte, Ornellaia's entry-level wine, is especially opulent in this vintage. A soft, generous red, the wine offers terrific richness and depth in its ripe, perfumed fruit. Sweet scents of French oak linger on the long finish. This generous, seductive wine should continue to drink well over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012.
Full and soft, showing plum and berry aromas and flavors, with a fresh finish. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now.
Le Volte 2007 is a Tuscan wine that speaks the same language as Ornellaia. The aromatic and structural components display perfect balance, with fresh, lightly spiced red berry fruit notes and smooth fullness on the palate, where the soft Merlot tannins combine with the structure of Cabernet and the classic liveliness of Sangiovese. Best Le Volte in the last few years.
The 2006 Le Volte is especially generous in this vintage. This plump, juicy wine bursts from the glass with an array of super-ripe dark plums, cherries, smoke and licorice. It is an engaging, rewarding wine to enjoy over the next few years. Le Volte is made from Sangiovese which is purchased from outside producers plus Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the property. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.
From the notable super Tuscan estate Ornellaia, this Sangiovese blend flaunts its pedigree with pristine fruit and skilled winemaking. Simultaneously savory and ripe, with red cherry, sweet shiitake and plum flavors amplified on the palate. The superb balance and purity of texture, along with fine tannins on the finish, add to the wine's fully satisfying impression.
The 1996 is a particularly successful example of this robust, fleshy, dry red wine. The color is dark ruby, and the wine offers up copious quantities of sweet jammy cherry and berry fruit. Mouthfilling, rich, and expansive, with good flesh, and a touch of wood, this uncomplicated, but immensely satisfying red wine can be drunk now, an over the next 3-4 years. This excellent value from the winery responsible for Ornellaia is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in small oak casks and bottled unfiltered.
