Our best rosé of the year. Full of fresh fruit flavors and the elegance that epitomizes the Bordeaux wines of Château Clarke, owned by the famous Rothschild family. Le Rosé de Clarke is a rosé de saigné: after harvest, the grapes' juice is allowed to macerate on the red skins very briefly to impart a beautiful tint to the wine. Bordeaux rosé has made enormous strides over the past decade, and today Clarke's is one of the very best: fresh and juicy while still maintaining the elegance that epitomizes Château Clarke. High quality, affordable wines are out there, like this powerful, concentrated rose from Le Rose de Clarke. A strawberry red colored wine with dark berry (blackberry), cherry, floral and spice aromas. On the palate, soft fruit flavors of wild strawberry and cherry (from the Merlot) combine with zesty spicy pepper notes (from the Cabernet Franc) to produce an elegant rosé with complexity, concentration and a clean, refreshing mineral finish. A dense dark ruby/purple colored wine that has an expressive and intense nose read more...of blackcurrant, cherry, and plum aromas with hints of mocha, chocolate, smoke and spice. A powerful attack of fruit gives way to a deep, full-bodied mid-palate of ripe tannins before a long and fleshy finish. Drinks well from 2007 onward and will develop until 2020.
