Le Quinte Virtù Romane Montecompatri 2009
This exotic wine presents with lovely pale hues of yellow pierced by youthful hints of green. Aromas of pink grapefruit and green lime explode from the glass with a citrus vibrancy complimented by a hint of caper and fennel. Flavors follow with the same grapefruit and lime focus, a full rich flavor and a crisp twist of lemon zest to finish. This Sauvignon Blanc is an exceptionally exciting wine!
fruity, citrusy nose. buttery, sweet front and mid-palate, smooth, pleasing finish. Excellent drinking wine with a light meal or pleasing dessert wine.
The aroma is very hot, with definite citrus notes. Buttery and creamy textures mask the heat somewhat, but it's clearly still there. It seems to envelop my mouth, coating it with a rich, silky texture.
Sweet lime, gooseberry, grapefruit, passion fruit and guava. - Tasted at winery 4/20/10
Very clean and crisp with a flinty minerality. - Tasted at Wine Spectator New World Wine Experience 2010
I'll preface this with the fact that I am not a Sauvignon Blanc fan. The Nose is sharp citric grass which is overwhelmed by passion fruit and grapefruit. The palate is softer than the nose would make you think, but it maintains the Sauv Blanc acidity and the passion fruit stays the whole way through. Definitely one of the better Sauvignon Blancs that I've had which gets it past that "Neutral" rating and I rated it to a "3.5" relative to other Sauvignon Blancs, but not enough to change my view on the varietal.
GROSS. Smelled like cat pee and tasted like hairspray with fruit. I really like Sauvignon Blanc, but this one... blech.
Delicious. Definitely one of the best sauvignon blancs I've ever had under $30. Well worth the price. I had it at a wine-tasting event paired with scallops - absolutely fantastic!

Rating: 88/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. Intense and very much biased to Sauvignon's very grassy, close-to-vegetal side, this outgoing wine may be a little too much for some but will win applause for die-hard fans of the style. Fleshy and firm with plenty of depth and the kind of structure to work with appropriately flavorful seafoods, it should shine with dishes such as swordfish liberally brushed with olive oil and seasoned with garlic, rosemary and thyme.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
With hints of fresh lime and grapefruit wafting from the nose, the palate releases citrus overtones which are complemented by crisp acidity. The long, minerally finish is refined and set to round out a fish or vegetable based meal.
Extreme passionfruit powers this young sauvignon, a wine thatrsquo;s more New Zealand than Napa Valley at the moment. Itrsquo;s tart and tight, needing six months in bottle to ease into a more gentle balance, when the fruit intensity will work well with grilled seafood.
Clean yet substantial, this sauvignon stings with the scent of white flowers, the fresh and delicate aroma of narcissus. Then it fills out, the firm green fruit balanced and lasting. The texture is full enough for a beefy pho or parslied pigrsquo;s trotters.
Rich and concentrated, with ripe honeydew melon, green apple, fig and lime peel flavors. Intensity lingers with bright, tangy citrus character.
