Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 1989

Winemaker's Notes:

Jancis review: Dark ruby with a hint of brick at the rim. More focussed and less exotic than
the 1990 on the nose. Neat, concentrated. Tannins even a little severe on the
palate. Fine, dense, a wine with lots of dry density - as opposed to the
sweet opulence on the 1990. Refined and even elegant for a 1989. Racy, even
lacy in its transparency and texture. Sweet, gentle palate. Very long and very
lovely. Very impressive.
(Jancis Robinson - jancisrobinson.com - Nov-2004)

undoubtably elegant but still a little tannic and not as smooth as Lacoste=Borie 1998 which was loke liquid velvet

Considering the vintages and the estate, Mouton's performances in 1989 and 1990 are puzzling. I have tasted these wines multiple times since my last reviews appeared in print. The 1989 Mouton-Rothschild is the superior wine, but in no sense is this a... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 1989 Mouton-Rothschild 1500ml

Wine Spectator ReviewThis is outstanding quality, with pretty aromas and flavors of mint, berry and milk chocolate. Full- to medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a silky finish. But I have had better bottles than this. '89/'90 Bordeaux non-blind horizontal.(Feb 28, 2005)
