Le Maestrelle IGT Toscana Santa Cristina Antinori 2012
Santa Cristina is a popular brand offshoot of Antinori wines, produced in the town of Cortona, in Tuscany, Italy. The wine has been produced in the area (the location of the estate changed in 2006) since 1946. The wines are produced using traditional grapes and styles of red, white and rosé as well as Super Tuscan blends using international grapes. The estate also produces fortified dessert wine, grappa and olive oil.

On the rich side with an almost viscous texture, this has benefitted from 2 years in the cellar. The pear and bitter orange pith fruit is well balanced and framed by gentle suggestions of mineral and almond milk. This is a big wine that doesn’t lack for alcohol and may be a bit too soft for some palates but it does offer an interesting take on the style and would be a great match for a creamy, rich chicken and mushroom soup. 86pts
Love this Paso Rhone blend. Great balance, some interesting fruit layers and nice acidity. On the palate there's lemon cream pie, honeysuckle and hints of fig.
Excellent rose from Tablas Creek. TC is one of my favorite Rhone varietal winemakers out of Paso Robles and this is right up there with their other offerings. Slight strawberry, light rhubarb, some watermelon and a touch of bright cherry sit well with the medium acidity.
I am not an expert, but I know what I like. I always have my eye out for Moscato D'Asti, as it is my favorite. I like sweet wines. I found this at a very good price ($7.49 on Sale, regularly $14.99) at Walgreen's in Wake Forest, NC. On opening it, I thought I might not like it, as the fragrance wafting up as I opened it was not appetizing. The first glass smelled rather strange, but as it sat, it lost the strong scent. I am glad I stuck with it. It is pretty special- lovely tart that plays against the sweet grape, apple, pear, apricots, and a faint floral something. It is what I think is a medium body, which i like. It is very smooth, easy to drink and mellows a tad as it goes from chilled to just cool. I think it gets richer and more complex in flavors as it starts to warm up from just chilled to just cool. Not as bubbly as some others, but it does not distract from this wine in the least. I had some of this wine with a dinner of chicken in a very light terriaki/honey glaze; green beans tossed in a good olive oil, a drop or two of sesame oil and a light sprinkle of lemon-pepper, and a nice chewy rustic white loaf of bread with butter/olive oil/garlic/feta sprinkled on cut bread and warmed- I think it was a good pairing. I tried some with Goat cheese with cranberry and cinnamon- fantastic! This Moscato is complex enough and lingers long enough to hold it's own and play against the flavors of foods. Mine had 2012 production date.

Love this Paso Robles Rhone white blend. Loads of tongue coating layers, ripe pear, peach, clove, spice, white chocolate, fantastic balance and a long finish.
Well this is probably the firs time I give an absolute score to wine. Unlike most Italian wines this one has a huge tight aroma full of dark red fruits (thanks to merlot probably)! fullbodied, expressive wine with long aftertaste. This is perfectly balanced wine for a good price. I just love it! There was also a label on the bottle says "it's perfect for cheese and appetizers" (check pictures)... and I would say the best pairing for this wine is hard cheese.
The wine opens with a ruby red color with violet tinges. It has a full and intense fragrance with hints of red fruit which bring to mind cherries and raspberries. On the palate the wine is smooth and well-balanced. The finish is characterized by gentle tannins and the persistent flavor of the grapes which make is so delicious and easy to drink. -The Winery
