Le Maestrelle IGT Toscana Santa Cristina Antinori 2012
Santa Cristina is a popular brand offshoot of Antinori wines, produced in the town of Cortona, in Tuscany, Italy. The wine has been produced in the area (the location of the estate changed in 2006) since 1946. The wines are produced using traditional grapes and styles of red, white and rosé as well as Super Tuscan blends using international grapes. The estate also produces fortified dessert wine, grappa and olive oil.
Love this Paso Rhone blend. Great balance, some interesting fruit layers and nice acidity. On the palate there's lemon cream pie, honeysuckle and hints of fig.
Excellent rose from Tablas Creek. TC is one of my favorite Rhone varietal winemakers out of Paso Robles and this is right up there with their other offerings. Slight strawberry, light rhubarb, some watermelon and a touch of bright cherry sit well with the medium acidity.
I am not an expert, but I know what I like. I always have my eye out for Moscato D'Asti, as it is my favorite. I like sweet wines. I found this at a very good price ($7.49 on Sale, regularly $14.99) at Walgreen's in Wake Forest, NC. On opening it, I thought I might not like it, as the fragrance wafting up as I opened it was not appetizing. The first glass smelled rather strange, but as it sat, it lost the strong scent. I am glad I stuck with it. It is pretty special- lovely tart that plays against the sweet grape, apple, pear, apricots, and a faint floral something. It is what I think is a medium body, which i like. It is very smooth, easy to drink and mellows a tad as it goes from chilled to just cool. I think it gets richer and more complex in flavors as it starts to warm up from just chilled to just cool. Not as bubbly as some others, but it does not distract from this wine in the least. I had some of this wine with a dinner of chicken in a very light terriaki/honey glaze; green beans tossed in a good olive oil, a drop or two of sesame oil and a light sprinkle of lemon-pepper, and a nice chewy rustic white loaf of bread with butter/olive oil/garlic/feta sprinkled on cut bread and warmed- I think it was a good pairing. I tried some with Goat cheese with cranberry and cinnamon- fantastic! This Moscato is complex enough and lingers long enough to hold it's own and play against the flavors of foods. Mine had 2012 production date.

The Tilia Malbec-Syrah shows a bright purple color with violet highlights. The nose is full of rich black fruit aromas with light earth notes and a touch of roasted coffee. The palate displays concentrated cassis and black raspberry fruit flavors interwoven with a touch of chocolate and sweet spice finishing with ripe, silky tannins.
Abruzzo, ItalyTesta Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a true red wine gem from the Abruzzo region of central-southern Italy, to the east of Rome. Bordered on the east by the Adriatic and on the west by the Apennines, Abruzzo is one of Italy's most mountainous and beautiful regions, with tiny villages perched on its hilltops. Montepulciano is one of Italy's most popular red wine varietals, appreciated for its silky plum flavors, soft acidity and light tannins. This Testa Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is 100% Montepulciano from the Ortona, San Salvo and Pollutri growing areas of Abruzzo. Testa Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is ruby red with reflections of garnet. Plums, black cherries and cassis dominate the bouquet and follow through on the palate of this rich, full-bodied wine. The wine was carefully vinified to achieve maximum concentration and to capture the flavorful character of the Montepulciano grape. After fermentation, it was aged for several months in oak barrels to add an extra level of depth and complexity. It is long and smooth on the finish with a pleasant hint of vanilla.Enjoy Testa Montepulciano d'Abruzzo with pizza, lasagna, grilled burgers and aged cheeses.

Even if red wine is not your speed, give our Ménage à Trois Red a try. This wine exposes the fresh, ripe, jam-like fruit that is the calling card of California wine. Ménage à Trois Red brings together three strange bedfellows. On top weve got Zinfandel, a saucy tease that brings blackberry and raspberry jam to the relationship. Merlot, with its generous mouth feel and red fruits, fits perfectly in the middle. The rich flavors and firm tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon make it the ideal. - Winery
Pinot Grigio grapes. Stainless steel vinification. This Pinot is rich in fruit yet balanced with good acidity and long racy finish. Round, ripe apple and pear fruits on the palate. Clean and bright, try with chicken, fowl, grilled fish and light antipasti. Try with light fare and delicate fish preparations or on its own as a perfect aperitif. - Winery
The Antinori family's Santa Cristina estate is located in eastern Tuscany, near the cities of Siena and Cortona. The warm climate here is ideal for international grapes like Syrah and Merlot. Le Maestrelle is a premium quality wine that blends 60% Sangiovese with 20% Merlot and 20% Syrah. The wine is aged in both small oak barrels and stainless steel tanks to give a balance of bright fruit, suppleness and complexity.
