Le Clos Jordanne Pinot Noir Twenty Mile Bench Vqa le Grand Clos 2007
Clos Jordanne is a joint venture between Boisset and Vincor Canada. When Jean-Charles Boisset started discussions about his project, he soon realised that the poor state of viticulture in most of the Niagara escarpment meant that he would have to plant his own vineyards. Given this, the gestation period for these wines has been much longer than shallower pockets could have tolerated, but the end results have been greater than even the most optimistic of observers could have expected. Deep red in colour, this wine has a complex nose that expresses elegant red and black fruit with the overtones of dried flowers, orange zest, game, plum, spice and leather. It is stunningly pure, has great balance between restrained, tight fruit and oak and has incredibly long dark focused finish.
