Le Clos du Caillou Côtes du Rhône Blanc Bouquet des Garrigues 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape is an open-knit, precocious, heady wine with delicious sweet black cherry and currant fruit intermixed with plenty of spice and licorice. It is medium to full-bodied with silky tannin, good freshness, and a layered mouthfeel.

Fantastic wine. I buy it every time I fly through Paris - I just brought the 2004 back this week; had the '03 last time through. Very complex and intriguing. It has a spirit that you simply cannot explain. You have to try it; it makes you wonder what the true, classic bordeaux vintages may have been like (the ones way beyond my price range). There's nothing like it available outside of France, except on-line -which is nice to know. I've been hunting for this stateside for years and, although I prefer the 19 Euro price, it's easily the best wine I've ever tasted at any price (based on the 2003). I have served it at home. It leaves my guests almost speechless. Okay.., so, what's the 'case' price? :-)
