Layer Cake Malbec Malbec 2009
A powerhouse of lush black fruit, silky cocoa, black spice and cream, wrapped around blackberry, cherry and ripe plum in the nose. Sweet anise, hints of tobacco, black chocolate, more cherries and exotic spices, layers of jam follow on the palate. Pure, rich and very elegant, this wine will stand and perform anytime you think of a cabernet and want something just a little more exotic.
I wish the label said "decant please" because at the end I got a mouthful of sediment. and not the sexy kind. Grape skins and pulp. Anyways....DECANT PLEASE.
This is unequiviacally my favorite wine on planet Earth
Please tell me how Snooth determines the ratings because most of the reviews for this wine are positive. Anyway, I find this wine very drinkable... fruity with a peppery finish.
I have enjoyed this in each vintage I have had. This is a regular at my house and I attempt to keep bottles of it around for any occasion.
Loved the 2007 vintage but the 2009 is a bit harsh
Excellent thick wine with fantastic deep beefy flavor
Deep purple color. Sharp acidity which quickly softens. Chocolate and cherry exploded especially after a taste pate on my pallette. It was a perfect pairing.

The Layer Cake Malbec has a dense, purple core with a brilliant red rim. Black fruit on the nose followed by anise, chocolate and spice. Soft tannins; lush with an intense mouth full of fruit.

Dense purple-colored with notes of blackberry, earth, roasted meats, and a hint of barbecue spice, this wine exhibits great fruit, delicious, full-bodied texture, silky tannins, and a long finish. It does taste more like a $30ndash;50 bottle of Malbec than one that can be purchased for $15. It should drink nicely for at least 2ndash;3 years.
